  6. The Store
  7. Raymond Computer began in the mid
  8. 1980s as Jack's Computer Shack in
  9. Spring Lake Park, MN. After several
  10. years of operation there the store was
  11. moved to a location on Johnson St. in
  12. N.E. Minneapolis, MN. In the early
  13. 1990s the store was moved to its first
  14. location at 898 Raymond Ave. in St.
  15. Paul, MN. Not long after the move Jack
  16. Turner, the original owner, sold the
  17. store to Ray Bryan, the current owner.
  18. In 1995 the opportunity arose to move
  19. to the store's current location at 795
  20. Raymond Avenue.
  21.  
  22. During its entire existence the store
  23. has supported Commodore and Amiga
  24. computers and continues to do so
  25. today. In the process of doing
  26. business today we have expanded into
  27. service of both DOS based PCs and the
  28. Macintosh computers. We also will do
  29. training in computer skills in both a
  30. one-on-one and group settings.

  34. Ray Bryan, Owner
  35. Ray collected most of his electronics
  36. training from the U.S. Navy, but
  37. admits to periods of destructive
  38. experimentation on various old
  39. electronic items that came his way
  40. during his early youth. Guess you
  41. could call it the hands-on part of his
  42. training. Ray has been a long time
  43. Commodore user from the mid 1980s on.
  44. Ray gained a huge part of his
  45. practical Commodore experience through
  46. creating several computer installation
  47. art pieces culminating in one
  48. interactive, inter-media installation
  49. art piece he created
  50. _The_Dao_and_Zen_of_Metal_Art_
  51. and_Computer_Music_ shown at Wilensky
  52. Arts in 1991. Ray is a past Vice
  53. President of the Minnesota Commodore
  54. Users Association (MCUA) and is
  55. currently a member of the Twin Cities
  56. A.M.I.G.A. User Group.

  58. Jack Sheldon, Service
  59. Jack has been involved in electronics
  60. for almost 50 years. Jack worked for
  61. over twenty years at Control Data as a
  62. test tech and in manufacturing. In his
  63. early years he worked in both
  64. commercial television and broadcast
  65. radio, helping build KNXR FM Stereo in
  66. Rochester, MN. Currently Jack works
  67. for the St.Paul Public Schools as a
  68. computer technician as well as the
  69. Service Department at Raymond
  70. Computer. Jack is a past co-chair of
  71. the Twin Cities Osborne Computer Group
  72. (TCOG). First licensed in the mid
  73. 1950s as K0PSI, Jack now holds the
  74. call KB0QIK and enjoys poking around
  75. on both 2 meters and 70cm. You can
  76. often find him on the 3M 2 meter
  77. repeater.

  80. We Must take a minute to thank both of
  81. our families who have made it possible
  82. for us to keep Raymond Computer moving
  83. forward. They also have served when
  84. drafted for that special project when
  85. we have needed them. We also need to
  86. thank the many members of our Raymond
  87. Computer extended family who have
  88. given of their time and experience
  89. when we have needed them. Without you
  90. all we would not be here!

  99. Raymond Computer is a full service
  100. computer store specializing in sales
  101. and service of both the Commodore and
  102. Amiga computers. Raymond Computer
  103. store also provide software that is
  104. new, used, and consignment for the
  105. Commodore and Amiga computers. We can
  106. also special order items that might
  107. not have in stock. Special orders
  108. generally take 5-8 days provided our
  109. supplier has the item(s) you want in
  110. there stock.

  112. How To Find Us...
  113. The Easiest Way -
  114. If you know where the original KEY's
  115. Restaurant on Raymond Ave. is located
  116. we are 8 or 9 doors north of them. If
  117. not, then read on below to find your
  118. way to the store.

  121. If You're Coming From The North -
  122. Take I35W South to where it joins with
  123. Hwy 36 and Hwy 280. Take Hwy 280 South
  124. looking for the exit for Territorial
  125. Road and University Ave. Take this
  126. exit; when you reach the top of the
  127. ramp you will be at Territorial Road
  128. at the West end of the bridge over Hwy
  129. 280. Take a left on to Territorial
  130. Road and drive East 2 blocks to the
  131. stoplight. This is Raymond Ave.
  132. crossing at right angles to you. Turn
  133. right. We are the third door from the
  134. corner at 795 Raymond Ave.. There is
  135. parking behind our building reached by
  136. a driveway along the South side of our
  137. building. Park along the fence.

  139. If You're Coming From The East -
  140. Take I94 West as though you were
  141. heading for Minneapolis. After you
  142. pass under Snelling Ave. start
  143. watching for the Cretin-Vandalia exit.
  144. Take the Cretin-Vandalia exit and at
  145. the stop at the top of the ramp turn
  146. right and go North to University Ave.
  147. Turn left on University and drive West
  148. to Raymond Ave. There is a First Bank
  149. on the corner of Raymond. Turn right
  150. on Raymond Ave. and drive North toward
  151. the first stoplight. We are 3 doors
  152. South of the light on your left at 795
  153. Raymond. There is parking behind our
  154. building reached by a driveway along
  155. the South side of our building. Park
  156. along the fence.

  158. If You Are Coming From The South -
  159. There are two ways to reach us from
  160. the South. If you are coming from the
  161. South up I35E come North to I94 and
  162. get on I94 headed West then follow the
  163. directions for coming from the East.

  165. If you are coming from the South up
  166. I35W come North to I94 and get on I94
  167. headed West then follow the directions
  168. for coming from the West.

  170. If You Are Coming From The West -
  171. Get to I94 and head East. You'll come
  172. past the U of M exits and cross the
  173. Mississippi River and the next exit is
  174. for HWY 280 and you want to take it.
  175. BTW - It exits from the left lane so
  176. you want to be sure to move over. So,
  177. take the Hwy 280 exit and watch for
  178. the exit for University Ave. and
  179. Territorial Rd. Take this exit. You'll
  180. come to the first stoplight which is
  181. Franklin Ave. Straight ahead one block
  182. North is a second light which is
  183. University Ave. Go straight North
  184. through both lights and you will come
  185. to a stop sign. This is Territorial
  186. Road. Turn right and go to the first
  187. stoplight. This is Raymond Ave. Turn
  188. right, we are 3 doors South of the
  189. light at 795 Raymond Ave. There is
  190. parking behind our building reached by
  191. a driveway along the South side of our
  192. building. Park along the fence.
